There are lot of rumors regarding the announcement of new iPad Mini from Apple in upcoming months. Keeping these mind, LG has made a quick and announced a 8.3 Inch G Pad as an iPad Mini rival.
This newly announced 8.3 Inch G Pad is powered by a powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 1.7 GHz Quad-Core Processor to meet its calculation demands. Apart from that, the G Pad will have 2GB of RAM and 16 GB of internal Storage. As far as display is concerned, the Korean giant has included 8.3 inch full HD display (resolution of 1920 x 1200) and they claim that to be first HD display in tablets that fall into 8 Inch category. To meet its power demands, LG has packed massive 4600mAh battery in it. The dimensions of the tablets are 216.8 x 126.5 x 8.3mm and it weighs only 338 grams.
One thing which is still unclear is that why LG decided to choose Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean instead of latest Android 4.3. Yes, G Pad will be delivered with Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean (which I think is disappointing). The interesting part of software is new app called QPair which LG has included in this beast. The app is basically to allow users connect their smartphones with G Pad to receive and send messages and call on their G Pad.
The G Pad will be available in two colors: Black and White and it will be released in 4th Quarter of 2013 in North America, Asia and Europe. LG hasn’t talked about any pricing details of G Pad but we will surely have a closer look of this tablet (along with Samsung Galaxy Gear smart watch and Galaxy Note III phablet) at IFA 2013 which is going to be held in Berlin next week.
